Encoded Clerestory Roofscape

This aggregation demonstrates some of the geometric possibilities (concavities, inflection) of the double skylight clerestory module. The peaks gain more sunlight and allow for hot air evacuation, while the troughs facilitate the drainage of water and cross ventilation at lower elevations.

The system is supported by a set of two dimensional truss systems that run the length of the roof structure, and those are supported laterally by a sub-system of space-frame trusses that exist under the roof.

The individual component that is programmatically charged with the responsibility of supporting the VELUX skylight unit is in turn supported by the shear walls that sheath the longitudinal trusses.

The rotational configurations of the unit can vary the amount of sun allowed to project on to the floor. This variation suggests a level of customization that may be used in planning the interior spaces and how much sunlight desired for each.
