Aeromapping and Structure
Work on our physical model is coming along well. We have spend a LOT of time making sure the structure is correct. If it was not, it would make fitting our cell virtually impossible. All of the main structure is complete and brackets are almost all on. Secondary and tershiery elements are beginning to be installed. As soon as this is finished, per a previous diagram, the cells and retainers can be installed.
This is the newest iteration of our roof cells. Through discussing the performance of our previous versions, we decided that having the skylight coplanar to the roof’s base grid was essential for sunlight collection. We took a the top half of the cell on a double oblique and twisted it 45 degrees. This gave us a skylight that retained the planar characteristics of the base grid, yet satisfied the requirement for a single oblique installation.
Above is a diagram exploring our new cell’s aerodynamic qualities. Through the technique in diagraming, it is easy to see where high pressure/high speed areas would be. In a sense, the more saturated the color, the more dense the air.
