Cyclonic Updraft
Analysis of the time-based site phenomena developed this 4-Dimensional Model of a Sea Breeze field condition.
Using basic physical rule-sets, broken down into a set of behavioral attributes, this rising column of air within the site shows select relationships due to the changing solar altitude and sea breeze effects. Concerning a set number of hours throughout the day, the rule-set determines the exactitude of rotation, transformation, expansion and contraction. Spatial relationships are developed graphically showing complexities inherent to simple, tangible, relational conditions over time.
The progression begins with a field representing the extents of the site as well as an area of air particles that are transformed as the altitude of the sun increases from one hour to the next. This transformation is described by an expansion and due to this expansion a rotation occurs causing the particles to wrap outward from the central bead of motion.
As the sun’s altitude continues to increase the field expands and rotates but as the day progresses the introduction of a sea breeze affects the form. Cool air off the river flows towards the low pressure that is a result of the rising air. This sea breeze causes the column of air to rotate on a new axis as the sun’s altitude and therefore expansion reaches its apex.
During the latter part of the day the altitude of the sun begins to decrease and therefore the density relationship of the particles within the field begin to decrease. Rotation in both planes continues as form becomes closer to its original extents.
