Molecule Movement Study
Combined diagram of molecule movement
Our project mainly concentrates upon the movement over time of heated molecules from the land side & cooled molecules from the water side of a Brooklyn waterfront site.
The land side (left side of each diagram) gets heated more quickly than the water side (right side of each diagram.)
In general, from 12pm -3pm, density builds up as the land side receives the most heat gain. However, over time heated molecules rise and move toward the water side. Density decreases as spaces between molecules expand.
While heated molecules start rising, cooled molecules from the water side start moving toward the land side. Eventually, these form cycles. Both heated & cooled molecules move toward opposite sides and start filling in air space once occupied by opposite temperature conditions.

Heated molecules start rising as cooled molecules from the water side have already started moving toward the land side.

Complete cycles are formed, showing movement of both heated & cooled molecules. As the molecules move about in cycles, points where heated and cooled molecules interlace or cross develop.
