Visceral-izing Cognizance
In an attempt to imprint the neighborhood of Williamsburg upon the project site- tangibly as well as ideologically- an array of points gradually were placed, and began to pull at one another in order to create an effect desired (cognizance- defined, for purposes of the project, as the magnetism of distracted focus and its blockage), represented by vector clusters.
Two layers of vectors arise, one representing focal magnetism:
and the other creating the effect of blockage:
To create the effect/integration seen in the first image, the two layers are forced upon one another, making it essential that a hierarchy be created in which an editing of mass representation occurs. A set of mean curves arises from each cross-layer vector pair, which allows the editing to take place while shadows of past effects are maintained.
In this way, the kindergarten proposal for the site is ingrained with a visual ruleset, based on childlike behavior, and with every intent of customizing itself for that very behavior.
