Field of Light

 rcp-post.jpg

These drawings look at the aggregation of the roof-scape of Velux skylights in relation to site, sun, and airflow. The plan above shows orientations of the roof units as well as air flow in and out of the roof itself (blue and red arrows). Cladding on the roof occurs in shingle patterns to follow the flow of water running down the units. The drawing below maps out the positions of the sun in relation to the site plan in the mountains at Hunter, New York. These sun angles determined the positioning of the skylight units themselves.

The interior of the roofscape is then defined by the sun angles as well, capturing the light through the skylights.

This interior has an exposed beam structure and wood clad units above. The wood starts to deteriorate and lightens in areas that the sun penetrates the skylights.

The images on both sets of posts look great! Really impressive.

You should think about adding light intermediate contour lines in-between all the ones you have already. It looks a bit sparse and that could punch it a bit. A light dashed line or a dotted line would work well.

On the last image you have posted, the drawing in the top left is washed out + flat. I would use a line drawing overlay and turn all of the fills into a transparency @ 40-70%. This will lighten the colors and the line work on top will begin to suggest space. I would also turn the ground on that same drawing to black.

On future posts you can increase the size to that the detail will read clearly. If you need to go larger on the prints then do that & do some tests on the line weights. Most of the time the range of weights used in drawings are too close.
