Breathable-Interior Wall System
Update of the developments of an interior wall system that tunes to movement of air and captures light of the sun. This allows the house to breathe, letting the outside environment invade the home.
The plan is broken up into two programmatic parts, public and private, split by a row of individual exterior gardens that act as the lung of the house. The exterior walls of the house that face south are positioned in such a way as to capture as much air as possible, using a wall typology of wooden slats that carries into the rest of the house.
The public open and private closed wall types combine in the center gardens of the house to form a wall that grows off the roof-scape. This wall starts to twist apart to allow some vision and air flow yet still capture and reflect light.
The image below is a view into the public space of the house and kitchen area. The kitchen cabinets grow out of the roof system and create a screen to the rest of the living areas. The center courtyards can be seen behind the kitchen.
