LQ Chandelier-Hani Rashid
LQ Chandelier from one of Zumtobel’s Lighteriors Collections – a lighting sculpture created on the basis of a design by architect Hani Rashid. LQ, a humorous reference by the New York architect to Louis Quatorze, the Sun King, is a contemporary interpretation of the exuberant crystal chandeliers of the 18th and 19th centuries, yet without any crystal, glass or candles. The application of certain geometrical principles, the focussing of miniature faces into a multi-facetted reflector, and the accurate arrangement of innovative LED light sources is all that has been used to create exciting visual effects, a complex relational texture of form and light.
The chandeliers, consisting of modular, chrome-plated luminaires containing LEDs, were commissioned by Zumtobel for its Zumtobel Lighteriors Avant Garde Collection and was first shown in Milan during the furniture fair in April this year. They will be on show at the Collectors’ Lounge at the art fair, which runs concurrently with the Design Miami fair. via Zumtobel Lighteriors
