Retail store and pedestrian
Speaking of Retail store and pedestrian. asking what is attracting pedestrians. the answer would be something with window that either display the product or services. Retail store or storefront that we are talking about is not just a place where they sell product. i categorized it into 3 types retail store [ Restaurant, Retails and Service]
Restaurant - is including bakery and cafe and coffee
Retail - is the store that only sell their goods
Service - is including laundromat, bank, fedex, salon etc.
the files that i sent you is a raw information on the study area of the site. i cut at Waverly down to Houston and Laguadia to 2ave.
the code that is on each lot ex. R/1F/2D means that lot is a restaurant, have 1 floor and the entry door is 2 general door side
the meaning of the code
R = restaurant
RS = retail store
S = services
s = sidewalk
O = the business offset the space or entry out to the sidewalk mostly 1/3 of the sidewalk width
U = the business elevated up 1/2 of the floor height from the street
L = the business is lower down 1/2 of the floor height from the street
F = number of floor that the business has
D = number of general door side at the entry
i measured the sidewalk width on Tuesday and got the information of the businesses on the area on Wednesday.
on the www.oasisnyc.net contain the net lot area and the Frontage length. by combining the information that i went to map out and on the web i would get an accurate volume of the businesses
