recycled digital origami: 300th post

University of Technology in Sydney

Students at the University of Technology in Sydney collaborated with famed architect Chris Bosse on this pretty “digital origami” exhibit featuring 3,500 recycled cardboard “molecules.” To create this dynamic walk-through exhibit, 25 masters students in the digital architecture program got to freely explore their conceptions of Cartesian space and interpret them using many many repetitive shapes–there are actually only two different ones used in the entire display. via wired The result? Rooms full of these geometric paper shapes stacked on top of each other and plastered on walls and ceilings, illuminated by cool neon lighting by ERCO and acoustic installations by local designer/architect Joanne Jakovich.
