In learning more about my biological skin system, the distinction between primary and secondary systems has made itself apparent. Stingrays have a fleshy, porous surface around their bodies. It is through this layer of skin that they receive information on their environment and immediate proximity through a selectively-permeable network of pores, ducts, and nerves. This fragile layer is shielded by a veneering of small scales. These scales, similar in resolution to a shark’s, provide a barrier between the hostile environment of the ocean, and the delicate technology of the stingray.

Conceptually, I see my library functioning this way externally, and possibly internally. A secondary system must overlay onto the skeleton I’ve developed up until this point in order to selectively activate/deactivate the pores that lie dormant within my frame.
