Library:plans,sections
The drawings represent a version of how the program can start settling into it. Store &Share and Fast Food Rout are totally public automated way of book lending that require no staff involvement and for these reason are situated on the ground and first floors. On the same floor are information desks, browsing, coffee reading- all are public.
Second & third floors are dedicated to active reading and include: auditorium, comfortable group reading, video/music rooms for private and group activity and group desks. The auditorium is separated from the rest with layer of skin for acoustic purposes.
Upper floor is a silent reading area which is protected by extra skin layer for sound blocking and double thickened floor. The structure is held from two sides: by the books stacks from west side and by the internal structural skin layer from the East side.
The floors of the library are descending as going up in order to allow more sun penetration serving the 45 degree angle and at the same time allowing for circulation of air through the building and its control by the skin.
the check in/out point spread across service core are the openings which allow the books stacks to project onto the reading areas and be seen from there as well.
Rhino model and scripted skin are to come.
