The ‘Structural Systems Model‘, created from the Geometric Principles of Sycon Ciliatum, developed into the roof structure of the Aquatic Center. A ground-plane was created in a similar process as the roof. They were both integrated and further refined through sections. The program layout is determined using the original 2D geometric principle template lines of the roof and ground as organizational tools. read more

Sycon Ciliatum, a syconoid species of Calcareous sponges, were analyzed for its geometric principles. 3 behavioral logics were derived from the analysis; inversion of membrane, rotational folding, and axial expansion. A 3D diagram was generated, consisting of surface and curve information formed through the application of the behavioral logic.
