the wall system that seperates the public part of the house from the private is made of two interlocking screen layers. The whole wall system can be moved and manipulated to create opaque walls or ones that are much more transparent depending on the needs of the family. This is part of a responsive system that allows the occupant to determine the amount of light, air and privacy to flow through their rooms.

our house nestles itself against the crest of a hill which allows the southern facade to be open and look out over the landscape. the driveway curves around so that it is seen before it is entered from below. read more
The interior partitions which exist in the house will be a series of screens constructed of 1.5″ wood lath. The lath screens allow a certain degree of openness while keeping the bedrooms private. read more
For an extension of the roof-scape into the program of a house, we started looking at sun conditions within that space. These started to dictate the programmatic needs of the space. In order to allow the building to breathe, we began punching through the roof to create inner courtyards that will allow for the movement of air through the spaces. read more
