At the Quail Motorsports Gathering in Monterey, CA we happened to run into a Mr. John Hennessey admiring the same Lamborghini LP670-4 SV we were drooling over. With the Venom GT set to debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, we asked how the project was going. He promptly produced an iPhone and gave us a sneak preview of dozens of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) renderings. At the time, we had no way to show you the photos, but John was kind enough to send a few our way. read more

Looking into future development trends and issues related to high density within the city, the project explores architectural solutions that focus on dealing with air pollution and the lack of sustainable energy. The proposal is a design for a sustainable skyscraper cluster that has integrated vertical wind-turbine technologies and parametric systems inspired from the “dandelion”. The building form, components and structure incorporates many techniques that maximize wind reception efficiency, performing like a mega-scale air-purification system for London. read more

Part of Core77 Design Competition, the Social-environmental Station (Environmental traffic light) by Hernando Barragan quickly became our favorite submission because of it simplicity and the potential for far reaching implications. It is that and we are also suckers when any project starts to speak of mapping information. While it is not as polished as some of the other entries, it does something special in the revealing of the invisible.
The following text is from the competition submission:
There are environmental phenomena that are far from the experience and knowledge of people. For instance, when we speak of temperature and give it a value of 25 degrees Celsius, we easily have an idea of what it means, but when we talk about 2.1ppm CO2 it is not the case. The same occurs with phenomena such as humidity, air pressure, etc. which also cannot be perceived easily with our senses. For people to understand these phenomena they need to become familiar with them. read more
