Tower Study
(335 Views)A tower study done by scripting spirals and applying a surface mesh that connects to the ’structural’ spiraling columns. This image is a clip of the lower part of the elevation.
Space-filling Tetrahedra Surface Configuration Study (Extensible Strut, Flexible Node)
(289 Views)The study started with the investigation of rules which govern equilateral triangles, being the basis for the construction of the faces of regular tetrahedra. A mathematical function was created to explain the relationship between minimum and maximum strut extensibility.
Stamped Plain Weave
(302 Views)This is a 3 dimensional representation of a plain weave, created in Digital Project. The way in which it was designed, takes on more of a stamped metal approach. In which the members bends and turns are pre-determined. I added colors so that the cross members would be easier to read. read more
Twisting Towers
(2,011 Views)Early massing studies for a tower of multiple twisting strands. In addition to rotating about the central core, the profile of each strand also varies over the height of the tower to produce a visually striking effect. read more
Further Structural Spiral Studies
(742 Views)Single Sheet Folded Paper / Digital Model
(1,011 Views)Below are 3 series of images. First are images of single sheet of paper folded into a pattern originally created by Ron Resch. This is a single sheet with no cutouts, tears, etc. The second set of images show the flat pattern and the basic module and its rules for folding. As the individual module gets folded in 3D space the corners must stay on a sphere that has the rule of ‘diameter = sqrt 2 * edge length’. read more
Facade Cladding Panels
(780 Views)A study to create a clading skin system that developed from a penrose pattern. Some panels were removed and others rotated. This is the original 2D drawing of the penrose pattern. The penrose have been mirrored by their edges and vertices. read more
Parametric Woven Surface
(297 Views)Structural Spiral Studies
(442 Views)Preliminary investigations of structural systems of spirals. Working in Rhino, we’re developing scripts that generate surface driven spirals, which become the basis for our structural strategies. read more
