The final house inspired by the ideal of the connected family and a roof developed through the use of the standard VELUX skylights.  The table is designed as the main gathering point of the home. It is given wight within the communal space in the home by sinking it within the floor slab. read more

The programmatic elements of the house can be further reinforced through an expressive assignment of materials and forms. Depicted here, the archive , positioned at a lower elevation, retains the cool temperatures of the earth which promote the preservation of family heirlooms and other various items. read more

Framed here by the vertical circulation system of ramps, the roof scape provides a turbulent visual backdrop beyond the simple and refined geometry of the interior space. read more

As it stands, the house currently takes an aggressive approach to addressing the site conditions. The house rests halfway submerged by the surrounding landscape and halfway open to the Hudson River Valley. read more

For an extension of the roof-scape into the program of a house, we started looking at sun conditions within that space. These started to dictate the programmatic needs of the space.  In order to allow the building to breathe, we began punching through the roof to create inner courtyards that will allow for the movement of air through the spaces. read more
