to mark the 500th anniversary of palladio’s birth zaha hadid and patrik schumacher have created ‘aura’, which will be installed at villa foscari la malcontenta as part of the venice architecture biennale 2008. the installation is made up of the two sculptures ‘aura-S’ and ‘aura-L’, each will be shown in a separate room. via designboom

Transition from Form to Architecture - McCarren Park Natatorium
Every natural form has its functions.
The task of this semester was to control exotic aggregation form generated by analysis of natural structure, to provide a natatorium that can diffuse direct sunlight, collect water through its large surface area. Depicted here, the archive , positioned at a lower elevation, retains the cool temperatures of the earth which promote the preservation of family heirlooms and other various items. read more

This aggregation demonstrates some of the geometric possibilities (concavities, inflection) of the double skylight clerestory module. The peaks gain more sunlight and allow for hot air evacuation, while the troughs facilitate the drainage of water and cross ventilation at lower elevations. read more
